Lab team

History

The work group was established in September 2000 at the Chair of Floriculture Crops and Horticultural Plant Breeding located in the Center of Life and Food Science in Freising-Weihenstephan (visit). In November 2002 the group moved at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology at the Philipps-University in Marburg (visit).

The group "Natural Flavonoids" combines the know-how and technologies of the laboratory in flavonoid chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology. Activities are based on the synthesis, analysis and purification of different naturally occurring flavonoids. In addition, research projects concerning chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology of flavonoids in plants including classical breeding and genetic engineering programs are performed. Such projects were developed together with research societies (e.g. DFG) and companies from agriculture, life science and pharmacology.

One important aim of the group is the synthesis of flavonoids from different classes as 14C-labeled and non-labeled compounds in a pure and high quality to satisfy the increasing request from industry and research.
